Opening with the haunting sound of the 13th century composer Perotinus, this exciting programme spans some four centuries of music, varying from Purcell's famous 'Evening Hymn' to a keyboard sonata depicting the agonies of an ancient Israelite king, the pain of a rejected lover and the sweetness of a first kiss.
